PERSPECTIVE [02]

Hi guys I'm NAVEEN and I'd like to call myself a sneakerhead. It all started in the year 2016 by far the best year I'd witnessed so far, and I have never been a person who'd stick to one thing every summer I'd want to learn a new sport try way different things because my attention span was so less but little did I know that, this year in boarding school id find something that would change how I look at many things.

@nxveeen_
I thought basketball was a short-term thing and would probably get bored and boy was I wrong, the game started to get to me, I loved playing the game every day and thus began my thirst for this sport, I would wait daily near our library for the "THE HINDU" because it was the only newspaper with NBA articles. I used to cut out them and post them onto my baller scrapbook. As my curiosity increased I started noticing the sneakers and fits these players wore and I started falling in love with the sneakers I started learning about P.E's (players exclusive) pairs and how each player represented themselves through their shoes, and I would come home every summer and learn about different things on how there was a culture in the west and I didn't know one existed right here in India.

 I met someone who I refer to as my guru, he was a baller and an OG he knew everything about basketball, taught so many new things, and showed me what it was to be a sneakerhead, he opened an entirely new dimension for me now this felt like the multiverse for me and I was a guy who only knew there were 4 Jordan silhouettes, but what was all this!

I knew there was an artist called KANYE WEST but I didn't think he designed sneakers and clothing I was baffled, so I started researching and started learning different things. I fell in love with his designs and would listen to all his albums, everything he designed you would know was a KANYE original, so became a madman my inspiration.

Every page I turned id read something new and exciting about different artists and their collabs I would follow their work, ATMOS always blew my mind and so did the Japanese sneaker culture, the "SLAM DUNK 6'S " was one I'd always wanted to get a collab between an ANIME and a sneaker which was insane.

I read about the PIGEON DUNKS and was shocked at why people were dying for a pair of skateboarding sneakers and this opened the world of SBs and skateboarding.

MAN! This was one exciting world it had everything I loved BASKETBALL, ART, HIP-HOP, MOVIES FASHION, everything I say!

The only problem was every time I would speak to somebody about all of this they wouldn't understand all they would say is "THEY'RE JUST SHOES" or "IT'S JUST A GAME".

 I wanted to meet sneakerheads who loved this world and would teach me more, so I started my page and set out to meet other sneakerheads who had similar interests and loved this world for what it was. I have met quite a few people who have taught me about different things and I'd say every sneakerhead possesses this calmness I guess it's because of all the L's but everyone I've met has had their own story on why they love sneakers and its always exciting to listen to them talk about their passion for collecting sneakers.

I've never stopped loving basketball or basketball sneakers after all they are my roots and I still learn from different about the history and meaning of different pairs and clothing pieces after all such small things hold so much value with the stories they tell.
